about

Oh hello! Welcome to the Rejected Gallery where we exhibit the rejection stories of artists, celebrities, athletes and others. Artist's works and ideas are rejected by foundations, curators and galleries, parents or teachers, music labels. Formal rejections pierce the heart like sharp arrows. How do people deal with these experiences? Does it stop hurting? Is it possible to turn rejection into motivation? What if we all just praised and encouraged each other?

The inspiration is “Salon des Refusés”, that was held in Paris in the nineteenth century: an exhibition of officially rejected works of art. Back then, the creator’s success depended on the conservative art council of the Paris Salon. The artists rebelled in their own way and organized an exhibition of rejected works, which became many times more popular than all the previous ones. Napoleon, who ruled at that time, had no choice but to accept the new creative winds. It became a breakthrough in the history of art.

“Rejected Gallery” is an initiative that presents the rejection stories of artists, celebrities, athletes and others. Ther stories are personal, professional and real. How does a artist feels when he was rejected by the curator? Who to blame if only parents come to the opening of your exhibition? Is it normal to be invited to the casting only after losing some weight? These authentic experiences are relevant for young people who enter the world of studies, careers and work, full of challenges, choices and rejection. We aim to strengthen the psychological resilience of young people, to introduce them to the diversity of life situations and the importance of attitude towards them.
